Directory submission is a part of search engine optimization. In order to achieve and maintain high quality page ranking and visibility in search engine and to compete with thousands and millions of your peer online businesses.
Directory submission had become a mandatory effort, without submission, it is quite not possible to achieve a top most position in many of the major search engines such as google.com, yahoo.com, livesearch.com, etc.
One of the potential benefits of submitting your website to these directories is that maximum of these directories are free, and they do provide you one way link to your website which becomes an additional traffic source to your website.
From search engine optimization point of view directory submission is one of the highly recommended factors to get quickly listed in many of the major search engines.
Directory Submission Guidelines:
The website should be submitted in the most appropriate category, only the top domain websites are accepted, website with sub domain or sub pages are mostly rejected, but with some exceptions they are approved.
The website should be constructed completely with no broken URL links and should not to be from any of the unacceptable categories
After submitting your website to these directories it may take any number of days from 2-3 days to 4-5 months to get your website listed on these directories.
